چکیده
In this work, stress-dependent absolute and relative permeabilites in porous media are studied using the discrete element method lattice Boltzmann method. The change of permeability porosity during compaction is found follow a power-law relation. homogeneous pack agreement with prediction Carman-Kozeny equation. Porosity exponent increased due to existence vugs but decreased fractures. Relative permeability, on other hand, not only affected by pore structure compacted media, also properties fluids rock surface. Our simulations indicate that wetting phase increases slightly increasing stress, formation more continuous pathways. non-wetting phase, however, either or decreases depending viscosity ratio capillary number. It lubrication effects play an important role stress sensitivity permeability.

Absolute Permeability Calculation by Direct Numerical Simulation in Porous Media
Simulating fluid flow at micro level is an ongoing problem. Simplified macroscopic flow models like Darcy’s law is unable to estimate fluid dynamic properties of porous media. The digital sample reconstruction by high resolution X-ray computed tomography scanning and fluid-dynamics simulation, together with the increasing power of super-computers, allow to carry out pore-scale simulations throu...
متن کاملGas-liquid Relative Permeability Estimation in 2D Porous Media by Lattice Boltzmann Method: Low Viscosity Ratio 2D LBM Relative Permeability
This work is a primary achievement in studying the CO2 and N2–oil systems. To predict gas-liquid relative permeability curves, a Shan-Chen type multicomponent multiphase lattice Boltzmann model for two-phase flow through 2D porous media is developed. Periodic and bounce back boundary conditions are applied to the model with the Guo scheme for the external body force (i.e.,...
متن کاملLBM mesoscale modelling of porous media
Permeability is one of the most important bulk properties for the characterization of fluid flow in porous media. However, despite all the considerable body of research work over the past years using experimental, analytical, and numerical approaches, its determination is still a challenge. The methodologies, which have been used to measure, calculate and predict the permeability of different t...
متن کاملA Novel Approach to Measuring Water and Oil Relative Permeabilities in Two-phase Fluid Flow in Porous Media
In this study, direct laboratory measurements of unsteady-state imbibition test are used in a new approach to obtain relative permeability curves with no predetermined functionality assumptions. Four equations of continuity, Darcy’s law, cumulative oil production, and water fractional flow are employed in combination together under certain assumptions to present the new approach which interpret...
متن کاملEstimation of absolute and relative permeabilities in petroleum reservoirs
The estimation of absolute and relative permeabilities for petroleum reservoirs on the basis of noisy data at wells is considered. The spatially varying absolute permeability is estimated by regularisation combined with a bi-cubic spline approximation. Relative permeability is represented by a given function of saturation with unknown coefficients. Numerical results provide an indication of the...
